With an estimated base MSRP of $29,000 and coming with four trim configurations, the 2023 Honda CR-V would tick most of the boxes for a family SUV buyer. It gets all the bells and whistles regarding driver assistance as standard and the infotainment is feature-packed. The interior is pretty spacious too. Competing with the Mazda CX-50, Volkswagen Tiguan, and Hyundai Tucson, here are 10 things you need to know before buying the 2023 Honda CR-V.
10/10 Gasoline Powertrain Is Reasonably Punchy
Via Honda
The base powertrain is a 1.5-liter turbocharged inline-4 motor producing 190 hp and this motor comes mated to a CVT automatic transmission and FWD drivetrain as standard. However, you could also get the optional AWD drivetrain with all four trim configurations.
Via Honda
This motor is the same as the one you get in the outgoing generation of the CR-V, and it manages to do the 0-60 MPH run in around 9 seconds. Even though the Ford Escape and Mazda CX-50 come with a lower-powered inline-4 motor under the hood, the acceleration times are superior to the 2023 Honda CR-V.
9/10 Stunning Design That Turns Heads

The exterior design has been upgraded, and this 2023 model looks more masculine and purposeful than the older generation. Look from the front end, and you would be impressed with the classy grille design, elegant LED headlights with neatly incorporated LED DRLs, and subtle silver accents on the lower bumper.

The long hood and the perfect exterior dimensions do help it to stand out nicely. It contributes to excellent cabin space as well. The side view looks like a typical Honda with flat black body toàn thân cladding, clean alloy wheel design, and chrome window lining helping to break the monotonous look. The LED taillights and dual exhaust add to the premium factor too.
8/10 Premium-Looking Interior
Via Honda
The interior design of this 2023 Honda CR-V has seen a major update and looks like a car from a segment above. Unlike the sweeping dashboard and faux wooden accents that were present in the older sixth generation of the moniker, this seventh generation gets a sharper design language, making it look very mature.

The black interior coupled with red contrast stitching on the seats, steering, and armrest makes the cabin look more sporty than many of the segment rivals. The gloss black elements are minimal and the neatly integrated infotainment screen in the center of the dashboard makes for a great overall interior experience.
7/10 More Standard Interior And Exterior Features
Via Honda
Even the base EX trim comes loaded to the brim with most of the features as standard. This includes a feature-packed 7" touchscreen infotainment screen, a 6-speaker audio system, and a plethora of driver-assistance techs.

However, get the top-of-the-line Sport Touring Hybrid trim, and you are looking an impressive hybrid powertrain under the hood coupled with a long list of features including LED headlights and taillights, Bose premium audio system, 19" gloss black alloy wheels, AWD drivetrain, and 9" touchscreen infotainment system.
6/10 Gets Two Infotainment Systems, Depending On The Trim
Via: Honda
The base EX and EX-L trims come with a smaller 7" touchscreen infotainment system. Even though the screen size is on the smaller side, it doesn't miss out on any connectivity and entertainment features like Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, tuning and volume knob, navigation, and voice recognition.

However, if you wish to get the Sport or Sport Touring trims, you would get a bigger 9" touchscreen infotainment system. This infotainment offers all the features that the smaller unit offers. Along with that, you also get wireless phone charging and a 12-speaker Bose premium audio system with the Sport Touring trim.
5/10 All The Driver-Assistance Techs Are Standard
Via: Honda
The standard driver-assistance features include forward collision warning, automated emergency braking, lane keeping assist, lane departure warning, and adaptive cruise control. Other features like blindspot monitoring, driver-attention monitor, and traffic sign recognition are added to this 2023 model year too.

Apart from these driver-assistance features, all the regular safety features like airbags, ABS with EBD, traction control, stability control, tire pressure monitoring system, and reverse camera are onboard. Even though the 2023 model hasn't been crash-tested by the NHTSA and IIHS yet, the outgoing generation was one of the safest compact SUVs out there.
4/10 Warranty Coverage Isn't Going To Wow Anyone
Via: Guy Pickrell
We expected this all-new generation to come out with a more impressive warranty coverage than the outgoing model. However, Honda has disappointed us with the same limited warranty of 3 years or 36,000 miles and a powertrain warranty of 5 years or 60,000 miles.
Via: Guy Pickrell
The standard warranty coverage of the 2023 Honda CR-V is very similar to the Volkswagen Tiguan and Mazda CX-50, however, it gets complimentary maintenance coverage for 2 years or 24,000 miles. In comparison, the Kia Sportage and Hyundai Tucson offered the best in class warranty coverage.
3/10 Four Trim-Levels Are Offered
Guy Pickrell
Coming in with four trim configurations, there is trim for everyone. Along with that, all the trims are reasonably priced for the segment too. Get the base EX trim, and you are looking a bang-for-the-buck SUV that doesn't miss out on any major interior, infotainment, and safety features.
Guy Pickrell
Even the EX-L and Sport Hybrid trims are packed with many gizmos, making the CR-V a better value proposition than the similarly priced trims from Ford Escape and Toyota RAV4. However, it is the top-spec Sport Touring Hybrid trim, which would be available for sale for an estimated MSRP of $39,000, that makes the most sense if you need the most luxurious and feature-loaded SUV in the segment.
2/10 Hybrid Powertrain Is Onboard
Via: Honda
The Sport and Sport Touring trims come with a punchy hybrid powertrain and this is the one to get if you want a frugal and powerful daily driver. The 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 motor comes mated to dual electric motors and puts out a combined output of 204 hp, making it a superb offering of the hybrid crossover compact SUV segment.
Via: Honda
The transmission duties are handled by CVT automatic transmission, and it comes with an AWD drivetrain as standard. Even though the 0-60 MPH and quarter-mile times haven't been revealed yet, the 2023 Honda CR-V has a maximum towing capacity of 1,000 lbs.
1/10 Decent Braking Hardware
via Honda
The braking hardware is expected to be the same as the outgoing generation which came with reasonably large 11.1" front rotors and 10.2" rear rotors. This also helped the 2022 model to give out a 70-0 MPH braking distance of 170 feet.
Via Honda
The standard braking features included with the 2023 Honda CR-V are ABS with EBD, brake assist, hill hold control, hill descent control, and electronic parking brake. The driver-assistance features like automated emergency braking and forward collision monitoring are standard across the trims too.
